The aim of this website

Is to explore what an individual can do to make a difference. I am absolutely convinced that Global Warming is in progress and that we must do all in our power to reverse the trend. Contact me by commenting on my posts.

Actions that can be taken at five levels: personal, local, state, national and international.
The photo above is of a dry lake bed in drought stricken New South Wales.

Transport

The impact of transport on the environment

(Almost everyone can do something at this level. Begin with the low hanging fruit)

Flying
As bad as it gets
This is the best place for an individual to start.
I have heard that, apart from starting a forest fire, this is the most environmentally damaging thing an individual can do.

Driving a car
Fewer kilometres
Fewer journeys
A smaller vehicle

Taking the bus
This is better than using a car. We need to accept discomfort and inconvenience, if we are to save our existing climate.

Taking the train
A train is more energy efficient than a bus. More people. Steel wheels running on steel rails cause much less friction that other forms of land transport.

Cycling
A human being on a bicycle is said to be the most efficient moving animal.

Walking
This uses no equipment and is good for your health!
