Acting at the state or city level...
(I hope to encourage you by sharing my own successes)
My highest priority as of March, 2010, is to write letters to my regional newspaper.
I believe that's the way I can be most effective at the City-State level.
After years of saying, "I really must write a letter to to the editor some time" I finally wrote one and got it published. The trigger to making me act was to see yet another Climate Change Skeptic writing the most amazing rubbish and getting it published.
I will probably post all these letters on this site, because I own the copyright. I will not publish the letter which roused me to action as I may not have the legal right. (I will explore that: maybe if I acknowledge the author and source I can quote his entire letter)
So far I have only used the major paper in my region, on the principle of 'Think global, act local'. I may try another paper or two later. Keep you posted...
I found, with some difficulty, some circulation figures for Australian newspapers. They used to brag about them, Now they seem too embarrassed to publish them. The internet is eating into their readership.
I will try the next geographically close paper soon. But I am very focussed on this blog at present...
(this is a new page, without much content so far)
I have been working with these guys, on a voluntary basis in 2010:
